The proposed, interactive facility is dedicated to the post-secondary education of Intellectually Disabled (ID) students for the LIFE program, a division of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This program allows young adults with ID a chance for equal opportunity in education and future employment. The facility will act as a hub for community awareness and education about the spirit of those with ID.
The LIFE Lafayette facility will be the Southwestern hub of educational inclusion in Louisiana. The design of the facility aims to construct a new method of interactive learning, tailored to different learning styles, so that students can gain knowledge of life, learning and social skills in order to become active members of the community.

Because LIFE Lafayette aims to inspire inclusion, the concept confluence was utilized to develop the space, identifying the capability of every student in the university to flow together in one, common, binding course. The space was designed to strengthen the independence of each individual student.
The presented challenge for the facility was to establish spaces with acoustical privacy in order to decrease distraction while also creating an environment that is guided, connected and flexible.
It is important to develop a functional and nurturing environment that provides protection and security. Including color and materials for functional purposes can provide stimulation and establish place identity, and systems of color can aid in distinguishing spaces and elements from one another.
